All quotes are reviewed by a human being before they're added
No quotes are added to the site without being read first by our crack team of quote experts (mainly, me ) Quotes are reviewed to try to sort out the good quotes from the bad quotes. We receive a lot of bad ones. Believe me. The idea of this site is to not have the most quotes, but maybe have a good sized amount of pretty good quotes.
Well Mr. literi hotshot, what makes a good quote?
A quote that I like makes a good quote. Simple. What do I like? A good quote, in my opinion is self-encapsulated, it doesn't need a setup dialog or background to make you understand or appreciate the quote. A good quote should, in brevity, communicate it's idea. Great quotes are timeless. Not so good quotes are song lyrics (sometimes so so), penis jokes (please) and quotes from characters in movies (odds are, they didn't write the quote)
Quotes whose author is the same as the contributor won't get added
Quoting yourself is sort of stupid. My opinion, see above. Quotes from respected authors and publishers usually have a better chance of getting in.
No submitted quote is garaunteed to get in
Also, don't submit a quote more than once, or spam me over and over again with the same quote. I'll ignore it and my tech admin has tools to zap stuff like that out of the water. I know you like Dave Mathews Band, ok?
The Young Ones quotes almost always get added
My site, my rules. God I love that show
Please, use correct punctuation and speling in the submitted quote.
Quotes that aren't correctly written won't get added. I don't like making guesses on what the quote actually was.
All quotes need some sort of author
A resource of quotes with few authors attributed to them isn't much of a resource. I've gotten too many quotes attributed to 'Anonymous' when they're really famous quotes by people who still live. I'm just trying to control the integrity of the site.
Quotes are added, eh, whenever
We all live busy lives and as much as I like working on this site, I also like doing other things, like sleeping. There's no set schedule of updating to the site, but more than likely, quotes get added on Sunday morning at 4 am, or on friday nights, when i get stood up.
NO quotes will be added without a source
add the source right after the author, for example:
Jack Kerouac, "On The Road"
The more specific, the better.
